In the successful entrepreneur Fritz Bösch, theatre professional Peter Leu has found a sponsor for his cultural endeavours. Both men share a great vision for the kulturfabrikbigla.
The former factory spaces at Bigla offer an ideal setting for a wide variety of events. Bigla is one of the most important employers in Emmental, and as partner of the kulturfabrikbigla aims to make yet another contribution to strengthening this attractive region.
Thus arose a cultural centre in Biglen whose import extends beyond regional borders. The refurbishment left the interior spaces little changed. The factory atmosphere has been retained, and a multi-functional space has been created with movable seating, a stage, and lighting. The cultural offering will be "popular" in the best sense of the word, including theatre performances, concerts in every style, exhibitions, club events, programs for children, and more.
The kulturfabrikbigla opened 19 September 2009, and four events per week are planned through May. Various nationally and internationally renowned artists will present their best works. Local cultural artists are of course also on the programme. After each event, the foyer and bar provide an inviting atmosphere for guests to linger and enjoy an encounter with the artists.
