New robot welder strengthens core competency

Bigla has invested heavily in a new unit for resistance spot welding - increasing production capacity.

Bigla office products feature case, drawers, and flat elements made of sheet steel, the pieces of which are joined by resistance spot welding. This technology employs a strong electrical current flowing between two copper electrodes to heat spots of the steel pieces to the melting point. The pieces are then pressed together. This produces a strong and neat welded joint when the metal hardens.

Bigla's new TSR robot welder replaces our "old" resistance spot welding robot, which has been in successful service for many years. With the new unit we achieve multiple goals: greater capacity, higher productivity, and the same high quality.

Cases are assembled on two adjustable-height tables equipped with special jigs. Two different cases or a pair of identical cases can be handled. Equipped with a special rotating table, the setup can also weld together drawers two at a time.
